COUNTRY HOUSE RESTRUCTURING

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

On the border between the ancient Pontifical state and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, in the land where Raphael and Bramante were born, was renovated a small isolated house in the country, in fairly good condition, also composed by small outbuildings for an area of more 600 mq. The building are typical of the area with building elements of good quality: hand-knitted stone, great corners, lintels and stone parapets of openings, slabs cornice and, as a cover, wooden beams and clay tiles. The rigid outside geometry, got soften thanks to the today’s action as the opening of two arches on the front, form a counterpoint to the interior rooms, full of niches, wooden shelves in the bathroom and in the living areas, elements of division (wall wooden cabin with recovery planks, creation of wooden loft with metal guard rail) and great use of colour. Outside, on the back, the choices have respected the site’s features: large green spaces, integration to the circumambient context (forest) combined with the functionality and increasing the receptive capacity. As the images shown, was created a little artificial lake, which acts as a decantation tank of the ditch coming from the hill above, an evocative space from which the ditch continues his original path. On the front, the choices become clearer, stone fence wall with a “unique” made up of made on site rust-coloured metal railing, the arch that brings out its access, from which spreads out a paved place, getting back the old plates, and everything has the taste of the good old days.
