BIOARCHITECTURAL BUILDING CONTEST

CONTENT DESCRIPTION

The plan was to the design of three little building divided into flats for a number of families realized with techniques aimed to test advanced solutions and in connection with the bio-architecture and the energy conservation. The bioclimatic design, for each phase of the building process, involves the use of renewable energy sources, as well as all the devices and systems which, minimize the consumption and the dislocation of buildings, reducing the energy requirements, and also maximize the potential of the building materials and the environment where the building is located.

The area at issue, that is a town of Gubbio property, is located in a predominantly agricultural area about 3 km from the historic urban centre. Each building is placed on three “levels” (one of these completely underground) and within it there are 8 living units (4 on the ground floor and 4 on the first floor).; the underground floor is designed to a garage and warehouses.

The main building features of the work applied to use certified eco-compatible materials, characterised by low conductivity, wood doors and windows with low-emissive glasses and green roof.

The installations apply in large part to use renewable energy sources, integrated with centralized systems; in each building will be installed a condensation boiler, allowing the reduction of the gas consumption and then the emission of polluting materials into the atmosphere with a seasonal performance up to 106%.

The stairwells will act as solar greenhouses, storing up heat from the sun, which then will be transmitted to the accommodations through the ventilation system.
